The Big Three

My sweet middle child turned 3 yesterday, and we celebrated with family on Saturday. We had pizza, root beer, and cupcakes- all his requests.
The frosting on the cupcakes was destroyed when I added the red food coloring, making it look bloody, pinkish, and overall unappetizing. The birthday boy spilled root beer on his shirt every.time.he.took.a.drink, and sported the goose egg he managed to get on Valentine's Day (while he was pretending to be a dog).
It took him about 3 tries to blow out his single candle, and when his daddy got this picture, I had just seen spit fly onto the cupcakes.
That's why I'm thankful for The Nester's reminder that "It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful."

  1. As if a little spit would keep kids from eating cupcakes! I bet it was a fun day, bloody cupcakes and all.

    1. It's quite possible that I'm the only one who saw it happen. And it's possible (the truth) that I didn't tell any of the adult guests, either. :)

  2. Still looks like he was having a fun party! I'd eat one of your bloody cupcakes any day. ;)

    1. That sounds both quite disgusting, and quite sweet.

  5. This made me giggle because I've SO been there! The thing of it is - I bet your little guy didn't know about the imperfections and loved celebrating his special day nonetheless! {popping in from The Nester}

    1. You're certainly right, Jenna. He ate nothing but the "bloody" frosting off his cupcake, and enjoyed his day playing with his cousins and (more than anything) his Grammie's iPhone. :)
