ReplyDeleteDo you have a mandolin (sp?) that you cut fries and chips with, or do you just use a knife or food processor? I've been told that to get a good mandolin, you have to go really expensive or its not worth it. Kate said she uses her food processor with the slicing blade. Your thoughts?
ReplyDeleteHey Beth-
ReplyDeleteI don't have a food processor, and I recently borrowed a "slicer" from my folks. I guess it's a mandoline of sorts, and I know it's not expensive or high quality. That being said, I've only used it once, to make the sweet potato chips I posted about, and it worked better than I was expecting. For fries, I always just use my knife, though I haven't tried it out when making these shoestring fries. And to be honest, I nixed burger and fries night and had PW's Comfort Meatballs with Mashed Potatoes instead, so I can't say how easy/difficult it would be to make these fries with a knife.
Not sure if that helps...
