Frozen Hot Chocolate

My oldest is seven today! We celebrated with friends in a neighborhood park this morning. I bought donuts and iced coffee and made frozen hot chocolate for the kiddos. Super simple, laid-back party.
I had made this frozen hot chocolate once before and remembered it being SUPER rich. And it is. None of the boys could finish theirs, but the few girls in attendance liked it a lot. I blended it up right before we headed to the park, and stuck the whole blender pitcher in the ice chest.
Frozen Hot Chocolate

6 tablespoons sugar
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped, plus more for shaving
1 1/2 cups cold milk (I always add more, to cut the richness a bit!)
4 cups ice
whipped cream

In small pan, mix sugar, cocoa, chopped chocolate and 1/2 cup milk over medium heat. Whisk until smooth. Remove from heat; stir in remaining 1 cup milk. Pour into blender with ice; blend until smooth. Divide among glasses and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Makes 4.
