I'm the wife to one amazing man and mother to three amazing children. Amazing, yes, and particular at times. (Some people call that "picky.") I'm determined to get them to eat more than crackers, goldfish, and pretzels. Some days are better than others. Most recently, our lifestyle and eating habits changed after my youngest son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
I learned to cook by waking up early on Saturday mornings when I was little to watch Martha Stewart and watching Food Network for about a year before I got married. Rachael, Ina, Giada, and Alton taught me techniques that gave me confidence in the kitchen. My cookbook collection is growing, and I love to read them like novels. They inspire me.
I love to try new recipes (and do, on a weekly basis), love to make them my own, love to fudge them to make them more kid-friendly, and love to break the cardinal rule "Don't serve anything for a dinner party/baby shower/gathering that you haven't made before."
I used to believe that you could either be a cook or a baker, but I'm both, so I no longer believe that. My mouth is filled with sweet teeth and savory teeth alike.
The recipes I share here and pretty simple and straightforward. I hope you'll find something you enjoy.
